Here’s a message from our pastor, Rich Lang.
As we gear up for the start of a new church year our focus will be on the Historical Jesus and the Christ of faith. During worship we will go through a year long study about what Jesus actually taught. We’ll walk through the Sermon on the Mount which includes an in-depth exploration of the Beatitudes and the Lord’s Prayer. Then, after church, for those who desire an even deeper dive into the spiritual life, Dr. Rick Steele and I will co-teach a class focused around how we actually experience the Risen Christ in our lives (cf: 2 Corinthians 5:16-17). I’m very pumped about this class and think we’ll have a great adventure together. I look forward to how God will surprise us.
We’ll also continue our ministry of presence with the Safe Parking program. This ministry which offers safe space for women and children is at the core of who we are as Christians who are trying to follow in the way of Jesus. Safe Parking is the simple presence of good people doing good things for others. To participate is easy. You simply bring your own beautiful self and offer friendship. You might bring a board game to share. Or a puzzle. Or a craft. Make it fun because what you are really doing is just being friends for a couple hours. And sometimes there is no greater gift than that of friendship.
I encourage you to participate as a host in our Safe Parking program. Just as Jesus sent out the disciples two by two so we also offer a two-host set up every day and every evening from 7-9am and 7-9pm so that our guests have an opportunity to stretch out and relax inside the house and away from their tight vehicles. We’ll never know how much this influences hope and mental/spiritual stability, but we can imagine what a kind gift this is for those without space to stretch.

Each of us are on a spiritual journey. All we need do is to take the next step. We are here together so that no one need take that next step alone.
Come and see.
